How Does Stem Cell Banking Work?
Buy an HCI medical policy featuring the stem cells banking service and when your baby is born a technician will remove blood and tissue from the placenta and umbilical cord. They will then be sent to a lab where the stems cells will be separated from the blood plasma, these will then be stored cryogenically indefinitely until they are needed. The baby is not harmed in any way as the extraction occurs after the birth- in fact the baby is not touched at all in the process and nor is the mother.
After the cells are collected and stored, they are available for future medical use should they be needed by the donor they were taken from or any of the donors immediate family (siblings or parents). With stem cells, their future is in your hands!
