Courses to Take in The UK This Summer

Whether you are considering a move to the UK to continue your studies, or already here and with spare time on your hands this summer, there are a number of short courses in London for international students, as well as interesting experiences around the UK that you can apply for. Here are some recommendations.

Study Abroad at the University College London

Between July and August take part in UCL’s study abroad program right in the heart of London. UCL is ranked 7th in the world and is home to staff and students from over 150 countries, with 40% of the student population from outside the UK. Here you can take introductory courses, meaning you can take them having no prior knowledge of the subject, as well as Level 2 modules. To be accepted, students will need to have completed one year of undergraduate studies in their home institution with a GPA of 3.3 or equivalent. Accommodation is also offered.

Take a Short course at the University of Cambridge

The number 2 ranking university in the world, the University of Cambridge, opens its doors for the summer to students in July and August for some short courses. The programmes on offer include Business & Entrepreneurship, Science, Creative Writing, History, Art & Visual Culture, Ancient & Classical Worlds, Shakespeare & the Renaissance Literature and Medieval Studies. You can even stay on site in one of the historical Cambridge colleges where you can mix with other students. Studying at Cambridge, even just for a short time, is a fantastic summer experience.

 Study English in London

UCL is a very popular university for summer courses in the UK, as you can see. If you are looking to brush up on your English, join one of their English courses for international students, whilst also being able to see the social and cultural highlights of London. Courses are 3 weeks long and aim to improve your skills in all 4 keys areas: speaking, listening, reading and writing, as well as task-based activities. This is not a course for beginners, you will need some English skills, and you will be tested at the start of the course to be placed in a class with students of the same level.

This program will enhance your CV, gain academic credit towards your studies, and give you a fun and enriched experience in the heart of London. This program has five courses spread over two sessions and is open to both undergraduates and post graduates. Find out more here.
