8 of the most advanced hospitals in the world

Computer technology is not only pushing boundaries in the digital workplace, but the physical too. Advancements in technology in the health and medical sector has been improving in leaps and bounds, with hospitals around the world trying to keep up with the latest equipment to help patient diagnosis, treatment and care.

In this article we list eight of those hospitals known as the most technologically advanced in the world.

El Camino Hospital, California

California’s El Camino Hospital has always seen modern technology as highly valuable. Their cutting-edge cancer care facility opened to the public in 2009, with its high-tech equipment, including an advanced robotic radiosurgery device called the ‘CyberKnife’.

El Camino’s hospital also provides all the possible procedures available for radiation therapy that one could imagine.

Fortis Memorial Research Institute, India

The Fortis Healthcare Hospital Group is one of the world’s leading speciality hospital groups.

The newly opened Fortis Memorial Research Institute in Guragon, India, features multiple state-of-the-art, first in the world technology systems, including its digital broadband MRI imaging for disease diagnosis.

This hospital is also the first hospital in India to include a stem cell lab.

Bumrungrad International Hospital, Thailand

Bumrungrad International is South East Asia’s biggest private hospital and is located in the centre of Bangkok. It currently treats over a million patients every year using the most up to date and innovative technology possible.

What this hospital is most famous for is it’s ‘pharmacy robot,’ a cutting-edge Swisslog Automated Drug Management System. This robot can help identify cancers in early stages using a medical imaging scanner. It also has advanced radiotherapy capabilities.

Gleneagles Medical Center, Singapore

Gleneagles is regarded as one of the most state-of-the-art hospitals in the south east Asia area thanks to its robotic surgery using the da Vinci Surgical System.

This system is used for coronary artery bypass to treat coronary artery disease, thyroid removal, treatment of gynaecological conditions and much more.

Asklepios Klinik Barmbek, Germany

This state-of-the-art Klinik Barmbek private hospital in Hamburg specialises in complicated and rare diseases using some of the latest technology available.

It isn’t just the rare disease department that benefits from new technology, the centre also has a CT scanning device, a shockwave lithotripter, MRI scanners and left heart catheter testing unit.

Guy’s and St. Thomas', U.K.

This central London hospital is known widely for its da Vinci “Si” Surgical System, first introduced in 2004 and updated in 2011. This system is used for urological procedures, having four arms and two consoles it allows two urologist doctors to perform two separate operations, simultaneously.

It’s not only the robot that is leading Guy’s and St Thomas’ technologically, they also have a touchless imaging system, allowing them to use commands and gestures to manipulate images rather than touch. This helps aid the sterile surgical environment.

Wooridul Spine Hospital, Seoul

Wooridul Spine Hospital in South Korea is regarded as one of the top spinal treatment hubs in the world with its “Spine Total Care System.” Computer aided spine surgery treatments include digital spinal operations, biocompatible artificial joint surgery, artificial disc replacement and much more.

This eco-friendly hospital is entirely paperless thanks to its healthcare information technology system. This means that medical data on patients at Upper River Valley can be quickly shared electronically, which assists with emergency care and the ability to work easily with other healthcare professionals outside of its own hospital.
